“ADDICTION: A Photo Exhibit by Thi Chien” Grand Opening at Gallery Bar NYC

It was about a year 1/2 ago I met Thi Chien through a mutual friend “Feev“. Feev says to me..”you gotta meet this photographer I know HE’s AMAZING! I was telling him about By Any Means and the art shows you guys put together and he’s looking to do the same“. So we have lunch in Union Square and at first im taken a back by this stocky Asian kid from South Jersey with long hair and low tops with no socks. In my mind im thinking “O BOY…HERE WE GO” but he greets me with this aura that automatically makes me comfortable and confident in my decision to meet him.  We start talking about his past and his trip to NYC from Jerz that day and he pulls out his I-Pod to start showing me these photos of people shooting Heroin and in my mind im like “is this kid for real and what has Feev got me into”. Honestly though as I scrolled through the photos im so engulfed by the quality and perspective that it organically went from photos of drug addicts to art in a matter of seconds. At that very moment I knew I wanted to work with this kid in some capacity.

As we continue to talk about our goals and aspirations we realized that we were on a similar path. Long story short, a year 1/2 later we have created amazing art for Jim Jones, Fabolous, Kanye West, The Clipse, J. Cole and The Roots to name a few and have bigger things on the way.  The “ADDICTION” exhibit premiered on Sept. 30th and was on display to Oct. 27th 2009 at Gallery Bar NYC. The “ADDICTION” coffee table book is coming sooner than later so be on the look out for that as well.. Im proud to say he’s not only apart of the By Any Means family but he’s family in general at this point. He is honestly the most creative/original and youngest photographer out there… so with that said By Any Means x Slanted Vision present “ADDICTION: A Photo Exhibit by Thi Chien”
